September is National Suicide Prevention month. At EPJ we want students and families to know it’s okay to talk about suicide. For help and resources for you or someone you love, call 988. In South Dakota, 1 in 6 adults lives with a mental illness. Together we can let people know it’s safe to get help when they need it most.
EPJ is committed to educating the whole child—mind, body, and heart.
September is Suicide Awareness Month, and with the help of the Lost and Found Foundation, our students will be taking part in a Chalk Walk tomorrow, September 18th. This special activity gives students the chance to decorate our sidewalks with positive and uplifting messages for all to see.
To make this event even more colorful, we’re looking for donations of sidewalk chalk. If you have any extra or unused chalk at home and would like to donate, please drop it off at one of the main offices.

Holly Jolly Huskies are back this week! We will be at the volleyball game on Tuesday and the football game on Friday. So far, the High School Student Council has raised over $400 for local Elk Point and Jefferson groups. This week all donations will be given to the local Elk Point Food Pantry. Finished paw prints will measure roughly 25 by 17 inches. The cheerleaders will be coming around the week of September 21st through 28th (week before homecoming week) to paint them. Over the next few school days, preorder forms for homecoming merchandise will be sent home with students PK-12. The form will come in a clear ziploc bag for easy organization of orders and payment. Pre-order forms are due back by Tuesday, September 23rd at 3:15pm in order to get your items on time.
If you are purchasing any items for your child, please put the check or cash into the ziploc bag WITH the preorder form filled out and return to the EPJ Elementary Office, the EPJ MS/HS Office, or bring to the art room to Mrs. Leichtenberg. Checks can be made out to EPJ Cheer. Please make sure to fill out all your child's information on the form so that the cheerleaders will know whose classroom to deliver the items to!
