What an incredible weekend for our Educators Rising students! This past weekend, 12 of our students traveled to Spearfish to compete at the state Educators Rising Conference held at Black Hills State University. After months of preparation, practice, and dedication, I am beyond proud to share that all 12 students qualified for Nationals and will represent our school in Portland, Oregon! Here are their outstanding accomplishments: Kayla Sharkey • Gold Rating & 3rd Place – Job Interview; 1st Place Overall – Lesson Plan and Delivery Brooklyn Thooft • Gold Rating & 2nd Place Overall – Exploring Support Services Ali Herrity • Gold Rating & Top 10 Placement – Job Interview Jadyn Crippen & Peyton Stacy • Gold Ratings – Teacher Created Materials AND Interactive Bulletin Board Delaney Thorson • Silver Rating – Interactive Bulletin Board • Gold Rating & 3rd Place Overall – Lesson Plan and Delivery Camryn Norris, Kylee Pierce, Hannah Kuehl, Exandria Stultz & Gracelynn Bruns • Gold Ratings – Interactive Bulletin Board Haley Harkness: • Gold Rating – Interactive Bulletin Board • Selected as a South Dakota State Officer after completing four rounds of interviews • Recipient of the prestigious Legacy and Light Award — an honor awarded to only four students in the entire state of South Dakota. This is a tremendous accomplishment, recognizing leadership, character, and service. What an incredible honor!
Because of the hard work and dedication of the Educators Rising EPJ Chapter, our Educators Rising Chapter also earned a GOLD LEVEL Chapter Recognition Award — a testament to my student's commitment, professionalism, and heart for education. I am so incredibly proud of each and every one of my students. The countless hours of preparation, the willingness to step outside their comfort zones, and the passion they show for becoming future educators truly paid off. They represent our school and community with excellence.

Today in Biology, students took their learning to the next level by modeling meiosis! After yesterday’s lecture and video, we reinforced the concepts with a hands-on activity to better understand how genetic variation occurs. It’s always great to see students actively engaged and making connections between what we learn and how it applies to real-life biology.
